Dear CHAHMing professionals,

I have recently taken on the role of managing the museum collection here
at ANZCA.
Before I plunge into the cataloguing process of a vast, diverse and
possibly high risk collection, I am legally bound (OH&S) to identify the
risks and provide and implement a safe work/handling/storage
environment.
To do so, I am working towards tabling MSDSs (Material Safety Data
Sheets), JSAs (Job Safety Analyses) and SWPs (Safe Work Practices).
As I do not see the need to re-invent the wheel, I am extending a
request for guidance/contact details from those of you who have worked
with appropriate organisations and individuals in meeting your OH&S
obligations.

Additionally, we currently have a number of objects that have been
de-accessioned and I am looking into appropriate ways of discarding this
material. One object comes with a free standing thermometer containing
mercury.

Your comments and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Maria Drossos
